Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to work for a local authority in London.

Location: London (covering 14 housing estates, 5000 residents)

Contract Type: Interim (6 months, possibly extending to 9 months)

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 3 days a week in the office

Start Date: January 2025

Pay rates: 158.62 per day (PAYE) / 210.07 per day (Umbrella)

Purpose of Post

Provide advice and support to all members of the Departmental Leadership Team (DLT) to ensure the effective management of health & safety.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Provide competent business focused health and safety advice on the application of health and safety procedures/policies,
  • Monitor the compliance of all services
  • Report gaps or concerns to the DLT
  • Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments (FRA) across residential estates.
  • Commission and manage the FRA process.
  • Focus on fire safety, identifying and addressing fire hazards.
  • Review FRAs and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Update and monitor action plans to ensure compliance and safety.

Person Specification

  • Experience in developing and managing H&S structures.
  • Detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation and its practical implementation within a business context.
  • Proven experience in fire safety and knowledge of the Fire Safety Act.
  • Ability to identify and rectify issues highlighted in FRAs.
  • NEBOSH qualified.
  • Experience of applying health & safety within a Housing, Community or Property Services environment would be advantageous.
  • IOSH membership advantageous
