We are seeking a dedicated Campus Duty Officer to join a college based in East London. Reporting to the Campus Liaison Coordinator, this role is pivotal in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be instrumental in implementing the college's critical incident and student behaviour policies, ensuring a supportive educational atmosphere.
Day-to-day of the role of a Campus Duty Officer :- Oversee and report daily on any concerns related to student behaviour, acting as the first point of contact for investigations.
- Implement the college's critical incident policy as necessary, working closely with the security team and Curriculum Management.
- Contribute to regular reporting on interventions for at-risk students and uphold the highest standards in pastoral care.
- Ensure compliance with the Student Code of Conduct, Behaviour Policy, Health and Safety Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
- Deliver high-quality customer care to all college visitors, maintaining acceptable behaviour levels in line with college standards.
- Lead on critical incident implementations and ensure clear communication between security, safeguarding, and senior management teams.
- Support Curriculum Heads during disciplinary investigations and ensure timely and accurate statement preparation.
- Engage in college events such as enrolments, open days, and parents’ evenings, contributing to a positive college community.
- Qualifications in English and Maths at GCSE grade C/4 or above, or a Functional Skills Qualification at Level 2.
- Coaching, mentoring, or youth worker qualification at Level 3 or above (desirable).
- Initial teaching qualification, such as an Award in Education and Training.
- Relevant and recent experience working with young people in an FE sector or similar setting.
- Proven ability to engage young people in challenging circumstances to improve behaviour and attitudes.
- Strong understanding of Child and Vulnerable Adult protection (Safeguarding Agenda).
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft packages, MS Teams, SharePoint, and VLE.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging incidents professionally.
