Main Purpose of the Job:

The post holder will contribute to the administration of the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This is a temporary, part-time role, requiring 3 days per week on-site, focusing on cash collection from commercial debtors, student loans, sponsors, and tuition fees for both domestic and international students.

Reporting to the Senior Credit Controller, the post holder will serve as a key contact for external parties, students, and staff, while collaborating with various departments to ensure service levels are met.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Senior Credit Controller with cash collection for debtor accounts.
  2. Support review and segmentation of student debtor ledgers, working with the AR Deputy Manager to address SLC debts.
  3. Address student queries about fees and process applicable changes.
  4. Negotiate payment schedules when necessary, promoting early debt settlement.
  5. Provide a professional, customer-focused service and assist in improving the finance processes.
  6. Work with the Accounts Receivable team to enhance services and streamline administrative systems.
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation, maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection laws.
  8. Document credit control policies and procedures for best practices.
  9. Perform additional duties as requested by the Senior Credit Controller, Deputy AR Manager, or Accounts Receivable Manager.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Numeracy skills to manage financial queries and accurately input financial data.
  • Ability to work flexibly and contribute to service improvement.
  • Experience in a credit control role.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to offer guidance and build relationships with stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with higher education finance systems.
  • Previous administrative experience in higher education or customer service.
  • Knowledge of student funding processes.
