We are looking for a Credit Controller to ensure the smooth operation of the Credit Control function, focusing on the payment of rent and service charges for a portfolio of residential and mixed-use properties. This role also involves handling legal disputes and breaches of lease as necessary.
Day to Day of the role:- Manage the Credit Control function for your portfolio and assist with other legal disputes/breaches as necessary.
- Monitor accounts and prepare regular arrears reports in liaison with the Senior Credit Controller.
- Review the arrears list regularly and take appropriate actions, coordinating with Property Managers as required.
- Take action through mortgagees, solicitors, or bailiffs as needed, ensuring all follow-up matters are dealt with appropriately, including court proceedings.
- Liaise with Property Managers to ascertain any outstanding repairs, breaches, or disputes before taking action for recovery of arrears.
- Manage and coordinate the collection of debt, maximising timely payments while maintaining good customer service levels and professional standards.
- Prepare reports detailing Major Works contributions and arrears regarding these sums specifically.
- Manage payment plan negotiations with leaseholders and tenants in conjunction with the Senior Credit Controller.
- Consult on complex matters of arrears settlements with the Senior Credit Controller and Residential Management Executive.
- Prepare all necessary documentary evidence for solicitors in the event of Court proceedings and represent the Company in Court when required.
- Assess and deal promptly with all internal and external correspondence, including telephone calls and emails, and prepare reports for the Residential Management Executive and other Senior Managers.
- Keep all records up to date, including a log of all communications with tenants and leaseholders on the company’s property management system and on file.
- Process all payments received in accordance with company procedures and perform all necessary in-house administration in respect of customer accounts.
- Proven experience in Credit Control, preferably within the property management sector.
- Ability to manage a portfolio and handle legal disputes and breaches.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Competency in using property management systems and keeping accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
