The Role:

The Service Support Officer provides efficient administrative support across the children's services department, ensuring quality reception desk services and excellent customer care for visitors and callers. They handle sensitive interactions with children, young people, and families, maintaining professionalism and adhering to strict confidentiality and health and safety protocols. The role involves supporting front line staff by undertaking a variety of administrative tasks, ensuring service targets are met and continuous improvement achieved.

The Company:

This job is based at Sumner House, Sumner Rd in the Central Support Service which is part of the Children's Services and reports to the Business Support Manager of the Unit.

The unit provides a diverse range of specialist services for children and families, supporting the work of social work staff at the reception desk.

The Candidate:

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  1. Understanding of Children's Services operations and principles of quality customer care.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse people in various settings.
  3. Ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively.
  4. Awareness of diversity, health and safety in the workplace, and the importance of confidentiality.

Experience:

  1. Extensive experience in administrative tasks, including data input, record maintenance, and data cleansing.
  2. Experience in producing statistical reports and managing administrative systems.
