General Campus Assistant – Entry Level

Location: Kingston University, Penrhyn Road, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2EE
Salary: £26,384.00 per annum – Entry Level
Contract: Full time, permanent.
Hours: 11.00 to 19.00 – Monday to Thursday and 11.00 to 18.30 – Friday

General Campus Assistant – The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our Campus Support team as an Entry-Level General Campus Assistant. This training-grade position offers the opportunity for career progression to a permanent role, subject to vacancies and successful completion of a comprehensive two-year training program. The role involves supporting the general operations of the university, including caretaking, logistics, minor maintenance, and more. You will work alongside a team, receiving full training across all relevant competencies and gaining hands-on experience across various campus sites.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Assist with logistics and moves, including assembling and disassembling furniture.
•  Support caretaking duties such as setting up classrooms, maintaining public spaces, and managing waste disposal.
•  Provide minor maintenance support including assembling furniture and performing basic repairs.
•  Support the Goods Inwards department, post room, and courier services as required.
•  Assist with security tasks, including unlocking and locking premises.
•  Participate in campus cleaning, including litter picking, gritting, and sweeping.
•  Operate company vehicles for cross-site duties when needed.

From time to time, it may be necessary to include other duties, tasks and responsibilities within the role. The Campus Services Manager will discuss any change of duties with the post holder in advance of them being implemented. Employees are required to adopt a flexible attitude to the work they undertake and to their place of work but are not expected to carry out tasks beyond their level of ability or competence.

Key Competencies:

•  Strong customer service skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
•  Ability to work flexibly across departments and sites.
•  Good physical fitness for manual tasks and an ability to adapt to varying routines.
•  Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional approach to work.
•  Valid manual driving license is required.
