Purpose of the Role:
The HVAP Data Centre Technician will oversee and supervise planned and reactive maintenance tasks, collaborating with the Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader. The role requires strict adherence to health and safety standards and site-specific policies. Operating as an Authorised Person (HVAP), the technician will ensure safety documentation is completed to a high standard and that all work aligns with established procedures.
The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Shift Leader while supporting the shift team to deliver safe, high-quality maintenance services within the required time constraints. This position follows a continental shift pattern and is ideal for an experienced HVAP professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on all building plant, equipment, and systems.
- Respond to Building Management System alarms and conduct emergency repairs.
- Manage Permit to Work systems and prepare switching schedules.
- Maintain critical cooling systems and ensure adequate spares inventory.
- Prepare and review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and subcontractor RAMS.
- Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with contractual and site policies.
- Build strong working relationships with client and engineering staff.
- Support incident management and maintain comprehensive maintenance records.
- Draft and execute load transfer and isolation schedules for HV/LV systems.
Experience and Skills Required:
- HV Authorisation and Level 3 NVQ in a relevant discipline.
- Current Wiring Regulations and Emergency First Aid certifications.
- Experience managing incidents in business-critical environments.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role, with strong health and safety knowledge.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with interlinked systems (Fire, PMS, BMS) preferred.
- PASMA and IPAF certifications are advantageous.
