A University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft Purview Implementation Engineer to spearhead the deployment and integration of Microsoft Purview within the university's data ecosystem. This critical role will focus on ensuring the effective implementation of Purview across their data landscape, enhancing data discovery, classification, protection, and lifecycle management in compliance with both regulatory standards and institutional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and Configuration:
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of Microsoft Purview, ensuring adherence to their architecture principles, quality guidelines, and standard policies.
- Configure data classification, labelling, and governance policies within Microsoft Purview to ensure compliance with the UK Data Protection Act and other relevant regulations.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with Data Architect, IT teams, data owners, and business stakeholders to understand data governance requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide training and support to end-users and technical staff on Microsoft Purview functionalities and best practices.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience in implementing and managing Microsoft Purview (or similar data governance solutions).
- Knowledge of data governance, data cataloguing, data classification, and compliance principles.
- Proficiency with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake, Azure Databricks and Power BI).
Experience
- Proven experience in implementing and managing Microsoft Purview or similar data governance and cataloguing tools (e.g., Azure Purview, Collibra, Alation).
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data classification, and metadata management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or SQL for automation and data manipulation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
