An experienced Data Consultant is sought to support a client’s data strategy initiatives in the insurance sector. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data reporting, optimize data solutions, and contribute to data governance within a Data Lakehouse environment. Ideal candidates will bring extensive data consultancy experience in data lakes or data warehouses, ideally with prior experience in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Execution: Support the execution of the client’s Data Strategy in line with broader data roadmap goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business units, IT, and senior stakeholders to define and prioritize data-related needs and deliver solutions.
  • Data Landscape Management: Oversee data reporting and analytics requirements to enhance business operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, underwriting, operations, and IT to translate business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Participate in testing and data analysis exercises to ensure high-quality data for end-users.
  • Data Governance: Contribute to the implementation of a data governance framework to enhance data quality, lineage, and compliance.
  • User Training and Support: Provide training and support on data products and BI tools within the Data Lakehouse environment.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement reporting enhancements, new BI tools, and data process optimizations.

Skills and Experience:

  • Data Lake / Warehouse Proficiency: Proven experience managing data lake and/or data warehouse projects from initial analysis through full implementation.
  • Industry Expertise:experience within the insurance industry, preferably as a Data Consultant, Product Owner or Project Manager in an Agile environment.
  • Agile Methodology: Strong knowledge of Agile practices and demonstrated experience leading or collaborating in a scrum team.
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled in business requirements gathering, including conducting workshops and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical Thinking: High level of numeracy and analytical skill with attention to detail.

Desirable Skills:

  • Data Modelling and Governance: Experience in data modelling, data lineage, and master data management.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Python, and Power BI is advantageous.
  • Methodology Knowledge: Familiarity with system development life cycle methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps.

Hybrid working regime requiring periodic client site travel (Midlands & London).
