- Manage a distributed team of DBAs, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance management
- Align database strategies with organizational goals through collaboration with development, security, and operations teams
- Oversee PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and MySQL databases, ensuring security, scalability, and high availability.
- Drive decisions on database architecture, performance optimization, backup, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance
- Lead incident resolution efforts for database issues, minimizing downtime and enhancing recovery processes
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, implementing process enhancements and automation initiatives
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for database systems, ensuring high performance and reliability
- Collaborate with other engineering managers to ensure successful project delivery and cross-team cooperation
- 5+ years of database administration experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role
- Proven experience managing geographically distributed teams
- Expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse)
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, replication, sharding, clustering, and high availability
- Experience in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting complex database issues
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Experience with cloud (AWS) and on-premise database solutions
- Background in distributed systems and managing databases with replication and high availability
- Experience with disaster recovery, backup strategies, and failover mechanisms
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes
