Senior Ecologist | London OR Cardiff | 4-day working week (2 days in the office) |£40,000 – £46,490 per annum

The Opportunity:

The Civils & Infrastructure Team at Ford & Stanley are currently working in partnership with an award-winning Ecological Consultancy, to find them 2 Senior Ecologists to join their ever-growing Ecology Consultancy Services business unit.

Known for a strong commitment to sustainability, they are a certified B-Corp, meeting high standards in social and environmental impact. They support eco-friendly initiatives, including tree-planting and biodiversity projects, to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental stewardship.

This position would be well-suited to an experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist who would like to work across a diverse array of sectors, and operate with a high level of autonomy, whilst maintaining a great work/life balance, courtesy of a business-wide 4-day working week!

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking UK Habitat Classification Surveys and protected species surveys.
  • Building tenders and creating fee quotations.
  • Producing complex technical reports (PEA reports, BNG reports, protected species reports, Habitat Management Plans, BREEAM reports, HRAs and EcIAs).
  • Managing medium to large-sized projects with the ability to track financial progress.
  • Line management of junior ecologists.
  • Logistical and legislative problem-solving.

Interview Criteria

  • A significant amount of post-degree experience in an Ecology-based role. Essential
  • Hold an Ecology-based degree at BSc / MSc level. Essential
  • Be a full member of CIEEM. Essential
  • Previous stakeholder/client management experience. Essential
  • Hold various licences for protected species surveys. Desirable
  • Have a desire to line manage/mentor more junior team members. Desirable
