GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated Science Technicians to work in 'Good' and 'Outstanding' secondary schools in Greenwich. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a laboratory environment, assist in practical science lessons, and contribute to inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Whether you’re an experienced Science Technician, a science graduate exploring education, or someone with a strong background in laboratory work, this role offers a rewarding experience to enhance students’ learning journeys.

What the Role Will Involve:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
  • Maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Assisting teachers during science lessons by providing technical support and ensuring smooth lesson delivery.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering supplies when needed.
  • Ensuring all experiments and equipment comply with health and safety standards.
  • Supervising students during practical sessions to ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Cleaning and maintaining laboratory spaces and equipment to meet hygiene and safety standards.
  • Supporting students in practical lessons by answering questions and demonstrating safe use of equipment.
  • Collaborating with the science department to develop engaging practical activities.

Science Technician Requirements:

  • Individuals with experience working as a Science Technician in schools or similar laboratory-based roles.
  • Science graduates looking to gain experience in a school setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting.
  • Holders of a valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Proof of the right to work in the UK and two references for background checks.
