Hybrid role - 2 days a week (preferably Monday & Wednesday onsite)???????Customs Compliance Senior Specialist UK Job Summary:The role requires supporting our US Customs Compliance operation, located in London, with a wide range of administrative support, to enable the flow of merchandise imported into the US market from Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania, by proactively managing and mitigating risks and ensuring regulatory requirements are met in a compliant, efficient and cost-effective manner. Responsible for assigned work streams, business processes, and systems applications to monitor Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service provider's global operation to ensure timely gathering of information needed for product classification (HTS#) and US Import entry clearance filings of our client's product mix to prevent fines, penalties, increased costs and delays at time of Entry into the USA. Provides oversight and technical guidance to Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service provider's global operations, to ensure compliance to U.S. Customs (CBP) and Partnering Government Agencies (including but not limited to FDA, USDA, FWS, EPA) regulations and import requirements. Communicates, educates, and trains key business partners including our client's Global Buying Offices, Vendors and Agents on policies and procedures to ensure accurate and complete import information is provided, enabling compliant and timely Customs Importer Security (ISF) and Entry clearance processing. Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Oversee and support the Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers' global operation import processes, policies, procedures, and system applications related to US import regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor, publish and support key workflows related to Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service provider's productivity and performance, ensure on time completion and adherence to SOPs. Identify metrics/analytics required to support the operation and partners to develop analytic tools (Power BI).
  • Monitor and respond to operational requests/issues raised by the Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers in a timely manner. Partner and communicates with internal and external stakeholders to research, resolve issue and address any gap in processes.
  • Analyzes trade compliance data for completeness and accuracy to importing regulations and requirements.
  • Maintain SOPs and other guidance materials, train Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers on importing, policies, procedures and ensure adherence, follow through work processes.
  • Responsible for direct action on import clearance exception communication, escalation, timely resolution and corrective action plans to reduce supply chain delays, mitigate compliance risk and avoid additional import costs, holding the non-compliant party accountable and monitoring resolution performance has continuous improvement and supporting with corrective action plans.
  • Identify gaps and areas of continuous improvement, partner with key internal and external stakeholders on corrective actions and align best practices. Bring ideas for continuous process improvement, including the administrative side of Customs Compliance.
  • Develop and implement new processes, procedures, and operating system solutions to enable compliance and efficiency for existing and new import regulations. Educate business partners in areas of newness or complex importing requirements and support with Customs duties/tariffs inquiries. Support the Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers with training as required.
  • Participates in and prepares materials for business updates with the Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers and key stakeholders to review KPI performance and metrics, business strategy, new regulations, and continuous improvements. Document action items and publish minutes to stakeholders.
  • Support with Trade Compliance 3rd Party Service providers monthly billing record keeping, processing. Generate and publish spend review/trends to senior leaders.
  • Support key trade compliance initiatives and strategic projects to improve efficiency, compliance, increase business margins, and maximize opportunities in importing merchandise as required.

Minimum skills/education required

  • Bachelor's Degree or 1+ years of work experience in trade and import regulations/requirements.
  • Experience in Customs Compliance/Trade Compliance Operations, Retail and/or Logistics in a fast-paced corporate global supply chain.
  • Eager to work across different time zones and cultures (EU, USA, Asia).
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization and administrative skills.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to details.
  • Must have excellent, solid written and verbal communication skills and be customer service oriented. Show great communication skills
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude are required. Show curiosity and willingness to learn. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems/processes, continuous improvement mindset.
  • Take direction well and work well in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications including Word, Teams, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Power BI required
