As a BMS Panel Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing accurate wiring diagrams and system topologies based on project requirements. Working closely with design managers, project engineers, and other key stakeholders, you will ensure that all panel designs meet contract specifications and industry standards while optimising efficiency and functionality.

This flexible role will primarily be based Coulsdon however may require occasional travel to projects around London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed wiring diagrams and panel topologies for BMS projects.
  • Ensure all design activities meet quality control standards (ISO 9001).
  • Work alongside engineers to develop practical and innovative solutions.
  • Liaise with project engineers and design managers to align with project specifications.
  • Ensure that all drawings are reviewed and approved before manufacturing.
  • Update designs to reflect any modifications made during factory testing and commissioning.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously as required.
  • Create Bills of Materials to support procurement processes.
  • Maintain and update the AutoCAD database for accuracy and consistency.
  • Work efficiently within project budgets to maximise profitability.
  • Identify and report any design variations that may impact project scope or costs.
  • Submit accurate weekly timesheets for project cost tracking.
  • Work closely with project managers, design teams, and engineers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers, supporting their development.
  • Assist colleagues in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Support the training and development of junior engineers.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience delivering BMS panel design for large-scale projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience in panel building and construction industries.
  • Familiarity with building management systems, such as Trend, Distech, Tridium, and Delta.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
  • Ability to interpret and produce engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Willingness to attend training and stay updated on industry developments.
  • Knowledge of IT networks and topologies.
  • Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies such as Revit and BIM 360.
