We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Leyton for January 2025. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and be passionate about making a positive impact in students' lives. About the Role: · Support students with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH in both 1:1 and small group settings. · Assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored lessons and managing classroom behaviour. · Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student. · Promote inclusion, independence, and emotional wellbeing within the classroom. · Work closely with the SENCO and other professionals to monitor student progress. · Provide pastoral support to students to ensure they are fully engaged and supported in their learning journey. Key Responsibilities: · Provide high-quality support for students with special educational needs, ensuring access to the curriculum. · Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping students build confidence and social skills. · Assist in managing and supporting challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques. · Encourage and develop students' communication, social skills, and self-regulation. · Assist in the preparation and adaptation of teaching materials for students with additional needs. · Monitor students' progress and feedback to the SENCO and teachers. What We Are Looking For: · Experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH. · A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting students with a range of needs. · Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals. · A proactive and solution-focused attitude to managing classroom challenges. · Experience or a qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable, but not essential. · Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
