We are seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team at a vibrant mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience and support the academic and personal development of our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and supporting students across a range of subjects.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students, including those with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Support the development of student work, including helping with revision and exam preparation.
  • Observe and assist with student progress, providing feedback where necessary.
  • Support extracurricular activities and school events as needed.

Requirements:

  • A recent graduate (ideally with a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them succeed.
  • Previous child-based experience is preferred but not essential.
  • A current DBS certificate on the Update Service is required (or willingness to apply for one).
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children in any capacity (e.g., tutoring, coaching, volunteering).
  • Knowledge of SEN or experience supporting students with additional learning needs.
