We are a well-established recruitment agency looking for dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join a mainstream secondary school in Merton. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in education and want to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students' learning and development.

Role Overview: As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support students with their academic progress. You will assist in the delivery of lessons, provide one-on-one support for students with additional needs, and help maintain a positive and productive learning environment. This role is ideal for graduates who are looking to gain hands-on experience before possibly progressing into a teaching career.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons and support students with their learning
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help
  • Support students with varying abilities, including those with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Help maintain classroom discipline and assist with behaviour management
  • Work alongside teachers to monitor and track students' progress
  • Contribute to the creation of learning resources and assist with administrative tasks
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage their academic and personal development

Requirements:

  • A recent university graduate (preferably in a subject related to the curriculum)
  • A passion for education and helping students reach their potential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build rapport with students and staff
  • A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
  • Experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
