The Role:

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and proactive Pastoral Mentor to work within a high-achieving secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This school has a strong reputation for pastoral care and student support, ensuring that all learners receive the guidance they need to succeed.

In this role, you will work closely with a caseload of students who require additional emotional, behavioural, and academic support throughout their school day. You will be expected to build positive relationships, provide structured mentoring, and assist with behaviour interventions to keep students engaged and motivated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring, focusing on behaviour management and personal development
  • Support students who need extra emotional and academic guidance to help them stay engaged
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies and help maintain a calm, structured learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, Heads of Year, and the pastoral team to ensure students receive the right support
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback on their behaviour and well-being
  • Help to promote inclusivity, resilience, and positive decision-making among students
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience working as a Pastoral Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, or Teaching Assistant in a secondary school
  • A strong role model with the ability to connect with students and guide them positively
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to working with students
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
Additional Information:
  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to £125 per day, term time only
  • Based in Tower Hamlets, London, with excellent transport links
  • Immediate start, with potential for a long-term placement
