PMLD Teaching Assistant Needed in Lewisham
We are looking for a dedicated, experienced, and motivated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our committed team in Lewisham. The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), helping them thrive in a supportive, inclusive setting.
Position Details:
Job Title: PMLD Teaching Assistant
Sector: Education and Training
Location: Lewisham
Contract: Full-Time
Daily Rate: £95 - £105 per day
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for students with PMLD.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and professionals to design and implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
- Assist students with personal care, mobility, and feeding, ensuring their safety and dignity.
- Foster a nurturing learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
- Work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies as necessary.
- Utilise specialised equipment to create engaging and accessible learning experiences.
- Engage with parents, carers, and external professionals to support the holistic development of each student.
Requirements:
- Previous experience with PMLD students in an educational setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
