PRU Primary - Pupil Referral Unit Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a vibrant PRU Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming team within a PRU based in South East London, this will be based within their primary school. As A PRU Teaching Assistant you be working with pupils with severe SEMH and ASD, we want you to support this pupils not only to enhance their academic abilities but give them fostering environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Social Emotional Mental Health experience.
  • Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies.
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach.
  • Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background.
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours.
  • Safeguarding experience.
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students.
