Are you a Science Graduate looking to gain some transferable skills, and use your academic background to make a difference to the lives of young people? A supportive and welcoming secondary school in Haringey are looking for a Science Graduate to join them as a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant. As a Science Graduate TA you will be supporting children aged 11-16 within the science department. You may be assisting the class as a whole, or working on a 1-1 or small group basis with children who require additional support. You may also run science based intervention sessions or revision sessions.

Experience with children in some capacity (for example tutoring) is always appreciated but is not essential. The most important qualities for a Science Graduate TA are being friendly, proactive and wanting to support children/young people. This could be a great opportunity to work in a supportive environment, as well as have a good work/life balance and lots of time off. If you want to make a difference whilst utalising your science degree, then this could be the right role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students aged 11-16, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated activities to support student progress.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • A Science based degree (minimum lower second)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Experience with children of young people in some capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
