A teaching assistant is needed for an outstanding independent school in North London for secondary students with special educational needs (SEN) aged 11-18.

As a teaching assistant, you will primarily support students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs which may include anxiety, depression etc.

This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.

Being a teaching assistant at this school, you will become a part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Working with and supporting students with SEMH and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Providing academic support, either one-on-one or in a small group.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture and providing emotional support when needed.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control.
  • Assisting with lesson planning and delivery.
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS.
  • Experience working as a teaching assistant.
  • Experience working with young people and an understanding of SEMH and ASD.
  • A patient and 'can-do' attitude and the ability to work under pressure.
