Job role: Behaviour mentor teaching assistant

Location: Primary School located in Kilburn, London

Reeson Education is working with a 1 form entry primary school local to West Kilburn station who are looking for a teaching assistant to join their close-knit team. The teaching assistant will primarily be managing children's behaviour across the year groups, working with children in nursery all the way up to year 6. You will need to be patient, calm and understanding in order to manage behaviour and work with the children in order to overcome day to day challenges.

This primary school is supportive and able to offer training on the job, they hold weekly meetings where staff discuss any challenges and work together in order to create a solution, so you will have plenty of opportunity to work with other teaching assistants, trained teachers, senior management and other qualified professionals such as occupational therapists etc.

The teaching assistant will be working 1:1 with children inside and outside of the classroom, ensuring pupils are focusing on work, working with smaller groups on key subjects, managing behaviour disruptions throughout the school, going on school enrichment trips and much more. You will work with children to provide emotional support, create a safe space and allow them to understand and overcome behaviour challenges.

This role is to start in January 2025 or as soon as possible for the right teaching assistant.

In order to qualify for this position as a behaviour mentor teaching assistant, you will need to have a minimum of 3 months child related professional experience, have supported children with behavioural issues, trauma, autism or ADHD. This role would be a great opportunity for someone with a degree or interest in Psychology or Criminology and a passion to work with children.
