A teaching assistant is needed for an independent school in North London for children with special educational needs (SEN) aged 5-11.

As a teaching assistant, you will be supporting students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), sever learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and other complex needs.

This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.

Being a teaching assistant at this school, you will become a part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Providing support in lesson delivery and planning, either one-on-one or in a small group.
  • Using key strategies, such as PECS, TEACGG, Attention Autism, to support students' learning.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control.
  • Supporting with personal needs of students, including dressing, toileting and eating.
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS.
  • Experience working with children of primary school age.
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • Some training in Makaton, TEACHH, PECS etc. is desirable.
