A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in North London for students aged 4-19.

As a teaching assistant, you will support students with a variety of complex needs who find mainstream education challenging. You will be helping to motivate and engage students, encouraging them to progress in their learning.

Your responsibilities as a teaching assistant may include:

  • Working with and supporting students with various and complex special educational needs, which may include students with medical needs, physical disabilities, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and mental, emotional and health needs (SEMH).
  • Providing academic support, either one-on-one or in a small group.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom culture and providing emotional support when needed.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage focus and self-control.
  • Assisting with lesson planning and delivery.
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be a teaching assistant you will need:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS.
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • A knowledge and understanding of working with young people with SEN.
