An amazing opportunity at an OFSTED 'good' school that are looking to hire a teaching assistant for a KS2 classroom for the beginning of the academic year. Recent graduates or experienced teaching assistants are welcome to apply. The school believe that there are a number of personal qualities which are essential for a successful, productive and happy life in the future. The school believe that they play a key role in supporting children and setting them up for a successful future. This is achieved through the staff working together, with the families and the wider community, to support the development of well-rounded young adults.

As a KS2 teaching assistant you will be tasked with the responsibility of providing support to all the children in the classroom; helping with interventions for underperforming pupils, assisting SEN pupils one to one and aiding the higher achieiving students when necessary.

The school are a 2 form entry with supportive staff across the year group that are happy to assist new staff members settle into their new setting. Furthermore, its closely located to a tube station and offers parking for all long term staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT

Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:

  • Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:

  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be

Qualifications needs as a Teaching Assistant:

Desirable for a teaching assistant:

  • An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
