Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) - KS2 Pupil with ASD

I am seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who is non-verbal and presents with challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child's educational journey within our nurturing and inclusive school community.

Position Details:

  • Location: Camden
  • Contract: Full-time. Term-time only
  • Salary: Based on experience £80-£101

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to the pupil, ensuring engagement in learning activities.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Use alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.
  • Support the child's social and emotional development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with ASD, particularly those who are non-verbal and have complex needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and communication strategies.
  • Patience, resilience, and a caring approach.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) are desirable but not essential.
