The Role

As a Teaching Assistant for the Deaf, you will:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with hearing impairments.
  • Assist in delivering tailored lessons under the guidance of class teachers.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication strategies to support students' understanding and participation.
  • Foster confidence, independence, and social skills in pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and families to meet individual needs.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a candidate who is:

  • Proficient in BSL (Level 2 or higher preferred).
  • Experienced in working with children with hearing impairments, though training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Expereince working with students with Complex needs and SEN
  • Empathetic with a passion for inclusion and education.
  • Patient and Adaptable, ready to support children with diverse needs.
  • Collaborative, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
