Electrical Engineer - Building Services - Events and Conference Venue - East London - up to £55k + bonus & benefits

We’re on the hunt for a Building Services Electrical Engineer, with a relevant Electrical Engineering qualifications to City & Guilds standard, and further industry qualifications as listed below, to join a leading exhibition space / venue that welcomes 4 million visitors annually.

  1. C&G 2360 Electrical (level 2)/ Equivalent C&G 2330
  2. 17th Edition IEE Regulations qualified
  3. C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing/Equivalent C&G 2394/5
  4. C&G 2377-12 Portable Appliance Testing

Reporting to the Building Services Manager, the Electrical Engineer will become an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Building Services team who are responsible for the maintenance and operational undertaking of the venue.

Key responsibilities as the Electrical Engineer will include:

  • Delivering effective maintenance and electrical services support and reactive, planned preventive maintenance, inspection and testing tasks
  • Ensuring all electrical services are delivered safely and reliably, including assembly, installation, testing and maintenance of electrical, electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment to locate causes of breakdown and identifying correction of problems
  • Inspection of electrical systems to identify potential hazards and defects and priority of repair, complying with industry codes (escalating to the manager when appropriate)
  • Implementing plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based upon job specifications in close liaison with electrical building services staff, electrical staff, electrical contractors and the wider technical services team
  • Completing and returning PPM, Reactive and Manifest job sheets, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, timesheets and safety or work permits
  • Working closely with electrical services contractors and technical services department to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Assisting the Lead Technician and Manager in ensuring that all relevant testing procedures are carried out correctly to ensure compliance with statutory regulations
  • Assisting the Lead Technician and Building Services Manager to maintain the stock list of electrical equipment, ensuring consistent delivery of services
  • Assisting with Quality Assurance (QA) audits in conjunction with the Building Services Manager
  • Ensuring statutory and legislative compliance is met at all times

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience working as an Electrical Engineer
  • C&G 2360 Electrical (level 2)/ Equivalent C&G 2330
  • 17th Edition IEE Regulations qualified
  • C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing/Equivalent C&G 2394/5
  • C&G 2377-12 Portable Appliance Testing
  • Familiar with principles of critical recovery systems
  • Good written and oral communication skills and able to present information in a clear and concise fashion to engineering and client levels
  • Awareness of Health & Safety practices required to enable the safe operation of the plant and to carry out planned maintenance and fault finding
  • Sound knowledge of M&E maintenance regimes, including work instructions, asset history, documentation procedures
  • Understanding of basic energy monitoring and targeting processes
  • Sound BMS knowledge
  • PC literate and able to use Microsoft packages
  • COSHH awareness
  • Water treatment (L8) knowledge would also be of benefit
  • Basic HV knowledge would also be desirable
