Our client, a boutique MEP Design Consultancy of around 30 engineers, is experiencing rapid growth due to a series of exciting project wins. Specializing in Data Centre and Mission Critical projects for large blue-chip clients, this forward-thinking firm offers the flexibility of three work-from-home days per week, allowing you to choose your in-office days.

They are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong technical design experience in building services. While experience in Data Centre projects is not essential, it would be a significant advantage.

In this role, you'll need to be an excellent communicator with a focus on business development. Your responsibilities will include generating billable work, contributing to the creation and implementation of internal processes, fostering positive relationships with clients and architects, and developing new business leads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Oversee design activities, including calculations, report and specification writing, and conducting peer reviews.
  • Project Management: Take a leadership role across all RIBA design stages, manage work packages and resources, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Technical Oversight: Conduct project technical audits and serve as the lead representative in project meetings and workshops.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and architects, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Business Development: Lead fee bids, build long-term client relationships, focus on repeat business, and contribute to the company's growth and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of experience in an MEP Design Consultancy.
  • Membership with CIBSE and/or IET.
  • Chartered status or equivalent experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical engineering knowledge within the building services sector.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead both mechanical and multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement, fee proposals, and resource management.
  • Communication: Ability to present and demonstrate designs clearly to both the design team and clients.
