We are working with a leading facilities management service provider to recruit a Lead Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a prestigious hospital site in London. This is a critical, hands-on role for an experienced engineer with a BOAS ticket, excellent mechanical skills, and in-depth knowledge of technical compliance within healthcare or similarly regulated environments.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead all mechanical maintenance activities across hospital plant and systems.

  • Hands-on PPM and reactive maintenance on:

    • Steam boilers and associated steam systems.

    • Commercial heating systems including LTHW and calorifiers.

    • Ventilation systems, AHUs, FCUs, and associated HVAC equipment.

  • Manage and maintain technical compliance across statutory and mandatory regulations (HTMs, SFG20, HSE).

  • Carry out system fault-finding and diagnostics, ensuring minimal downtime in clinical areas.

  • Liaise directly with the client's estates and clinical teams to ensure maintenance activities are aligned with patient safety.

  • Maintain clear documentation, logbooks, and asset records.

  • Supervise contractors and assist with minor project works or installations.

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers on the team.



Candidate Requirements:

  • BOAS (Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme) certified - essential.

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in a hospital or healthcare setting - preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, steam, hot/cold water systems, and compliance standards.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Comfortable leading a small team and being the go-to technical expert on-site.
