We are working with a leading facilities management service provider to recruit a Lead Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a prestigious hospital site in London. This is a critical, hands-on role for an experienced engineer with a BOAS ticket, excellent mechanical skills, and in-depth knowledge of technical compliance within healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and lead all mechanical maintenance activities across hospital plant and systems.
Hands-on PPM and reactive maintenance on:
Steam boilers and associated steam systems.
Commercial heating systems including LTHW and calorifiers.
Ventilation systems, AHUs, FCUs, and associated HVAC equipment.
Manage and maintain technical compliance across statutory and mandatory regulations (HTMs, SFG20, HSE).
Carry out system fault-finding and diagnostics, ensuring minimal downtime in clinical areas.
Liaise directly with the client's estates and clinical teams to ensure maintenance activities are aligned with patient safety.
Maintain clear documentation, logbooks, and asset records.
Supervise contractors and assist with minor project works or installations.
Lead and mentor junior engineers on the team.
Candidate Requirements:
BOAS (Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme) certified - essential.
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Proven experience in a hospital or healthcare setting - preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, steam, hot/cold water systems, and compliance standards.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Comfortable leading a small team and being the go-to technical expert on-site.
