Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review, design, consultation, and delivery of schemes to promote walking, cycling, and bus priority
  • Implementations to reduce congestion and enhance road safety, including School Streets, strategic cycle routes, and traffic signal works
  • Oversee bus lanes and various measures targeting congestion reduction
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful and timely project delivery
  • Provide expertise and guidance to team members within the Streetspace team
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and recommendations
  • Maintain robust client and community relationships through effective communication and customer service


Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Principal Engineer in the traffic and transportation sector
  • Working knowledge of highways, traffic, and transport legislation and practices
  • Understanding of current planning, sustainability, and economic agendas influencing transport policy
  • Proven track record in the successful delivery of traffic and parking schemes
  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in the field
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
