My client, a leading non-profit business with an international footprint and a strong commercial focus, now urgently requires an experienced Employee Relations specialist to join their team for a fixed term period of 12 months.

Please note: this role requires candidates to be available to start immediately.

The role offers hybrid working with occasional office working and could suit someone within commutable reach of any of these locations - London, Bristol, Brighton, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Glasgow.

As Employee Relations Specialist, your role will be to support and coach managers in all aspects of employee relations. You will provide business-focused, consistent, and timely advice in accordance with employment law and HR procedures, with a focus on managing and resolving Employee Relations (ER) issues. You will develop, implement, and maintain effective Employee Experience policies which meet organisational needs, that are in accordance with employment law and local practice and agreed with the local employee reps and Unions.

Your role will include:

  • Providing advice, triage, case management and administrative support for all ER cases including, but not limited to, sickness absence, AWOL, disciplinary, grievance, capability/performance management, probation, and death in service issues.
  • Managing ER cases through to resolution, escalating more complex cases, if necessary, in line with triage decisions.
  • Managing short and long-term sickness cases to resolution, including reporting on and monitoring absences and liaising with external providers.
  • Attending formal hearings where necessary, documenting proceedings and drafting clear, well-structured outcomes with and on behalf of managers.
  • Managing TUPE transfers where required from an HR perspective.

To be considered you will require:

  • Proven experience of working within an employee relations team with substantial relevant experience of dealing with complex case management through to resolution.
  • Experience of tribunal case preparation, restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE.
  • Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and implementing HR Policies.
  • A sound and demonstrable knowledge of employment law and application.
  • A customer focused and process driven approach, along with the ability to provide an excellent employee experience to stakeholders.
  • Experience of working within a unionised environment and ideally within a variety of industry sectors.
