Employment Advisor

Hybrid - 2 locations, Edgware and Barnet

Salary: £28,000 per year

Our client are currently seeking an Employment Advisor to join their team. As an Employment Advisor, your primary role will be to support unemployed residents in progressing towards employment. You will provide guidance and assistance to help participants overcome barriers, develop job-related skills, and achieve their employment goals. This may involve upskilling participants and connecting them with appropriate training opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will need to embrace a blended delivery method, combining face-to-face interactions with remote support using digital platforms. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of participants, coordinating support services, engaging with partners, and monitoring outcomes. Additionally, you will offer guidance and referrals to participants with additional needs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of participants requiring additional support before entering employment.
  • Maintain accurate participant records in accordance with contract and funding requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact and record interactions with participants throughout the programme.
  • Provide advice, support, and monitor participant engagement and progress based on agreed action plans.
  • Offer feedback to referrers regarding participant engagement and any new needs identified.
  • Use triage assessments and skill analysis to prioritise participant needs.
  • Refer participants to internal and external support services in line with their tailored action plans.
  • Participate in case conferencing and learning activities to improve service delivery.
  • Stay updated on local labour market trends, training opportunities, and relevant support agencies.

Requirements:

  • GCSE level education or equivalent through training/experience.
  • Experience working with customers and establishing productive working relationships.
  • Experience delivering to targets, quality standards, and compliance measures.
  • Experience in employment, wellbeing, benefits, or housing advice.
  • Experience in supporting, motivating, and engaging others.
  • Experience in achieving individual and team performance targets.
  • Familiarity with the Lamplight system is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience facilitating interview skills and CV writing workshops, in-person or virtually.

Skills and abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and detailed report writing.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong data entry skills.
  • Skilled in creating CVs, cover letters, and preparing participants for interviews.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Organised, disciplined, and proficient in managing calendars and tasks.
  • Eager to learn and continuously improve.
  • Solutions-focused and able to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the role and achieve desired results.
  • Ability to manage, support, and review a caseload to achieve targets.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to various situations.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Passionate, well-organised, empathetic, and good with people.
  • Open-minded, solution-oriented, and respectful of others.
