Join our client's team as a Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Application Engineer in the UK, where you will play a crucial role in pre-sales and technical solutions for energy storage systems.
The position requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) or Transmission System Operator (TSO).
You will be responsible for technical presentations, project scope assessments, and translating client requirements into BESS design, while also managing RFPs and tender responses.
The salary for this role is competitive, ranging from £80,000 to £120,000 per annum, along with benefits including private medical and dental cover, and the option for hybrid or remote work.
Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of additional European languages such as Italian, German, or Spanish is considered a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with Sales for sales initiation, technical support, and value engineering
- Be responsible for RFPs, and assess project scope and risk
- You will hold technical presentations, clarify customer queries
- You will Translate client requirements into Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design
- You will be in charge of accurate costing and financial analysis.
- You will oversee and submit technical tender responses within deadlines
- Study the competitive landscape for ongoing development
- Use insights to influence product development based on customer needs
- You'll collaborate with customers to negotiate and finalize contracts
- You will develop tools and processes to improve tender response efficiency

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering
- Fluent in business and technical English
- 5+ years experience, preferably with a DNO or TSO
- Knowledge of battery systems, controls systems, and grid connections
- Familiarity with grid operator processes
- Solid understanding of BESS system regulations and standards
- Experience in designing utility-scale energy storage systems
- Ability to size Power Converter Systems and battery systems
- A strong Familiarity with design concepts related to protection, sizing, thermal systems, etc
- Additional European languages (Italian, German, Spanish) are a plus
