We require a Senior Technical Architect to cover an existing workload within Counter Terrorism Polcing, based in Empress State Building (Hybrid working).

This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.

Job Purpose:

  • This role will support the Senior Architect (aka Chief Technical Architect) to provide Enterprise design and support expertise for a range of ICT Projects and the overall CTP Architecture.
  • This role is vital to ensure the CTP infrastructure, systems and services are built, designed and architected to ensure that they are secure and efficient in use.
  • This role requires a flexible working approach and be self-motivated to help ensure that the various environments are well architected and documented.

Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:

  • MUST HOLD ACTIVE DV LEVEL VETTING TO APPLY!
  • Experience and knowledge of the Government Security Classifications levels and an understanding of the Cabinet Office Security Policy Framework.
  • Experience of designing system via Architectural Frameworks especially TOGAF.
  • Understanding of ITIL and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in writing Design Documentation suitable for accreditation at up to IL5.
  • Experience of working with Accreditor to ensure the design meets the needs of the security standards being applied for IL5.
  • Able to demonstrate Expert knowledge in the design and build of resilient designs.
  • Competence in a wide range of the following areas.
  • Expertise of designing a Microsoft Windows environment with a significant combination of the following key components: Windows Server, Microsoft SQL server, Active Directory, GPO, High Availability services, Windows desktop / VDI, Certificates and PKI design, RSA Tokens.
  • Expertise of designing a network infrastructure with a significant combination of the following key components: Cisco Routing / Switches, TCP/IP, Network Services (DNS/DHCP/NTP), Intrusion protection / Detection.
  • Expertise of designing solutions hosted on AWS including their Well Architected Framework and Landing Zones (experience of PALZ is a bonus).
  • Expertise of designing and working with AzureAD and Office 365 Services.
  • Expertise of designing a Linux environment within a larger Windows environment.
  • Expertise of VMware Virtualisation.
  • Expertise of designing and developing software solutions using some of the following technologies: .NET (VB, C#, ASP.NET, .NET CORE), MVC Framework, Python, JavaScript (REACT, Bootstrap Frameworks), Database design, SQL / SQL Server, NoSQL technologies e.g. MongoDB, Hadoop, etc.
  • Expertise of documenting business processes using BPMN (or similar frameworks).
  • Understanding of Waterfall and Agile project methodologies.
  • Experienced in effectively transferring knowledge and skills to junior staff.
