We have a fixed-term Forest and Nature Manager role available at DS Smith, a global leader in sustainability and circular economy solutions. This position is ideal for someone with expertise in sustainability strategy, EU deforestation regulations, and forest certification systems. Strong stakeholder management skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead DS Smith's sustainability strategy, focusing on EUDR compliance and forest certifications
  • Collaborate with paper and procurement teams to ensure sourcing aligns with sustainability goals
  • Provide training and education on EUDR to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain a central knowledge bank for EUDR and forest certification information
  • Develop and implement DS Smith's Nature strategy in alignment with global initiatives
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring strong communication and collaboration

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with EUDR (EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products)
  • Knowledge of forest certifications (e.g., FSC, PEFC) in the EU and UK, particularly for the wood, timber, and packaging industries
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence across teams
  • Ability to educate and adapt to rapid changes in sustainability regulations

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in nature strategy and biodiversity impacts
  • Understanding of FLAG emission calculations and other environmental reporting metrics
