Cedar have partnered with a household name in publishing who are recruiting a commercially minded Junior Commercial Finance Analyst with a passion for publishing and reading. This role involves supporting the HQ Commercial Finance team in delivering exceptional service to the publishing department. Responsibilities span budgeting, forecasting, month-end analysis, acquisition P&Ls, profitability reviews, and royalties reporting. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts to non-finance colleagues are crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support budgeting and forecasting by ensuring accuracy, liaising with publishing teams, and preparing reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of acquisition cases and maintain a financial pipeline for performance analysis.
  • Perform month-end tasks including provisions, accruals, and profitability reviews with high attention to detail.
  • Deliver timely reports and insights for monthly executive meetings.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and quarterly royalties reporting to support decision-making.

Person Specification

  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Desire to pursue ACCA or CIMA qualifications
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with reporting tools like Hyperion Planning is advantageous
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting or working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and organised with a proactive mindset
  • Demonstrable interest in books and publishing
