A public sector organisation is currently recruiting for a finance business partner to join the team on a permanent basis.

Based in central London, they offer hybrid working with an average officer attendance of 1 – 2 days per week.

Ideally they would like CCAB qualified but they will consider part qualified with relevant experience.They have amazing benefits as well. (see below)

Bear in mind that the successful candidate will need to undergo security clearance (CTC) so it will not be an immediate start.

Job purpose

Partnering with the organisation to provide a professional, high quality and responsive finance service that supports and promotes efficient and effective service delivery in line with their objectives and priorities and those of the CFO.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To promote sound financial management and control, partnering with budget managers and liaising with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders
  • Oversee segments of, and partner with budget managers to deliver the medium-term financial plan and actively promote this strategy to act in accordance with the corporate objectives of the medium-term financial plan.
  • Take responsibility for elements of budgets, in-year budget monitoring and reforecasting and year end close down.
  • Oversee the period end and staff budget monitoring processes and to assisting the delivery of budget setting.
  • Perform analysis and interpret data in line with accounting standards and suggest solutions and recommendations to decision-makers.
  • Support the Head of Financial Management and Senior Finance Business Partners in carrying out financial management and accounting services.
  • Actively contribute to relevant change programmes and support continuous improvement of functions and services.

Technical requirements

  • A qualified/part-qualified accountant (CIPFA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Excellent ability to draft and contribute to reports and briefings across the Finance team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal to finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Experience of working under pressure and making effective decisions within the scope of complex and critical budgets with multiple users and stakeholders.
  • Experience of providing accounting and financial advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to process, analyse and monitor financial data and provide information from data.
