A prestigious non-profit organisation in central London is seeking an experienced Finance Manager for an interim position, with the potential to become permanent. The role involves strategic management of the organisation’s finances, ensuring compliance with standing orders, and overseeing financial controls and accounts. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in membership organisations and knowledge of VAT exemption.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead the strategic management of the organisation’s finances in line with standing orders and other regulations.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgets, financial controls, and accounts.
  • Produce timely and reliable management information reports, quarterly/monthly Management Accounts, and exception reports with commentary.
  • Liaise with payroll partners and manage financial administration of pensions.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with Heads of Service and staff to ensure financial management information is understood and accurately reported.
  • Lead year-end routines, including preparation of Annual Reports for the Statutory External Audit in accordance with the latest accounting standards.
  • Manage VAT returns and oversee cash management, including weekly bank balance reports and monthly cashflow forecasts.
  • Liaise with external financial institutions and auditors.
  • Support and guide the finance team, including a Finance Officer and a Finance and Administration Officer.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience with strategic financial management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of membership organisations and partial VAT exemption.
  • Proficiency in using Sage accountancy software.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills with various stakeholders.
