In this Finance Manager role, you will:

  • Hold oversight of the day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring accounts are reconciled and closed in a timely manner.
  • Provide crucial support to the wider organisation by meeting with budget holders on a regular basis to improve financial comprehension across the school, offer advice and guidance, and improve accountability.
  • Oversee staff expenses, payroll submissions and payment runs to ensure the system is accurate and there are no delays in payment.
  • Ensure that VAT returns and submissions are made in time and submitted to the local authority as required.
  • Imbed yourself into the culture of the school by doing pupil duties and overseeing breaks once a day.

The successful Finance Manager will:

  • Be part-qualified (AAT Level 3/CCAB studier) or qualified by experience.
  • Have strong accounting knowledge, including double-entry bookkeeping and suspense accounts.
  • Bring staff supervision or management experience, with a willingness to develop leadership skills.
  • Ideally have school experience, though commercial, public, or not-for-profit backgrounds are welcome.
  • Be highly proficient in Excel, handling large data sets and advanced formulas confidently.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly and push back when needed.
  • Be open to working in a school setting and obtaining an enhanced DBS check.
