Finance Manager

We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to join our dynamic construction & engineering client in the heart of London on an initial 3-month contract.
This role is crucial for managing financial reporting, project accounting, and payroll, ensuring compliance with UK regulations. If you have a proactive mindset, strong analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this position is ideal for you.
This role has a high chance of becoming a permanent opportunity for the right person and offers hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reports for senior management.
- Conduct bank & cash reconciliations, weekly cash flow reconciliation, and maintain the monthly cash flow forecast.
- Process and reconcile payroll journals, supplier invoices, and other key financial data.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses, margin analyses, and profitability reviews to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyse P&L variances, oversee and review credit card transactions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.
- Manage UK payroll processes, including P11D submissions and VAT reporting for multiple regions.
- Oversee financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.
- Lead month-end closing processes and work closely with internal teams to analyse financial needs and challenges.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with at least 3 years' experience in detailed month-end accounts preparation.
- Strong experience in project accounting and preparation of monthly management financial reports.
- Proficient in handling auditing processes and direct liaison with external auditors.
- Experienced in managing UK payroll processes and submissions.
- Team management experience, specifically supervising accounts assistants and overseeing month-end processes.
- Proficient user of Xero and advanced Excel skills; financial modelling experience is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to simplify complex financial data.
- Meticulous attention to detail, process-driven, highly organised, and adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
