Our client, a leading organisation in the utilities industry, is seeking a talented Financial Crime Due Diligence Manager to join their expanding Financial Crime team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker with a passion for compliance and risk management to make a significant impact.

About Role: The Financial Crime Due Diligence Manager will join the expanding Group Financial Crime team in London, supporting the Senior Due Diligence Manager and Head of Financial Crime. The role involves leading 'know your customer' (KYC) checks on new and existing third parties, conducting periodic reviews, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management: Protect the business from risks related to Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Sanctions, Bribery & Corruption, Fraud, and Tax Evasion.
  • Policy Implementation: Propose, implement, and maintain processes and policies, providing strategic guidance on financial crime issues.
  • Team Leadership: Support the Senior Due Diligence Manager in line management responsibilities, including mentorship and skill development.
  • Framework Management: Own and manage the business Due Diligence Control Framework, including the Financial Crime Minimum Standard.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders to set risk appetites and ensure risks and controls are managed in line with agreed risk appetite.
  • Training and Awareness: Drive training and awareness of Financial Crime through horizon scanning, e-learning, advisory, and thought-leadership.
  • Strategic Planning: Conduct longer-term strategic planning regarding Financial Crime and its implications for the business activities and compliance.
  • Change Initiatives: Lead change initiatives within the financial crime team as needed.
  • Board Briefing: Brief on financial crime to Board and Executive Committee level as required.
  • Specialist Advice: Provide specialist advice to relevant stakeholders on financial crime.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Significant experience in due diligence and KYC.
  • A good understanding of financial crime laws and regulations.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with commodity trading in the energy sector.
  • Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • A certification from a recognised institution (ICA or ACAMS preferred).
  • A Bachelor's Degree is desirable but not mandatory.
