Our client in Roehampton, London, is looking for a reliable and proactive Live-in House Manager/Butler to oversee the smooth running of their dynamic household and support their busy family, including two children aged 7 and 9.
The family is looking for an experienced House Manager/Butler an all-rounder with a keen eye for detail, exceptional service skills, and the ability to oversee household operations and staff whilst maintaining high standards of efficiency and discretion.
Start date: end of March/beginning of April.
Job dutiesResponsibilities of Live-in House Manager/Butler in Roehampton, London, include:
- Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the household, reporting to the Principal and the PA
- Manage the housekeepers to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Assist with packing and unpacking for the Principals travels
- Provide basic cooking support and help maintain kitchen organisation
- Oversee laundry services and wardrobe organisation
- Knowledge of garment care, ironing, and handling delicate fabrics is essential
- Welcome guests (and visiting family members) and assist with formal event organisation alongside the family PA
- Occasional assistance with the school drop-off and pick-ups, assistance in looking after the children, helping with occasional babysitting in the evenings
- Handle errands such as grocery shopping, picking up deliveries, and other household needs
- Organise and maintain household inventory
- Coordinate smoothly with external contractors and ensure that the household operates without interruption
- Maintain the security system and monitor guests entries and exits
- Provide care for the family pet (dog)
- Assist with selecting and recruiting new household staff
- Train existing staff to improve service standards
- Previous experience as a Butler or House Manager, or in hospitality service (luxury hotels, private estates, etc)
- A valid driving licence
- Experience managing household staff is highly desirable
- Experience with children/childcare is vital
- A strong service-minded attitude with attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Long-term commitment is important
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage inventory and coordinate with external contractors efficiently
- A pet lover
- Swedish speaking is desirable
Live-in position. Private accommodation is provided downstairs in the main house, and includes a self-contained apartment with kitchen and bedroom, etc.
HoursFull-time and flexible schedule based on the Principals needs. Daily working hours are typically from 06:30 to 19:00.
