They have a new vacancy for a Commercial Surveyor on a permanent basis paying 51,880 per annum.

Role Purpose

  • To assist the Head of Compliance and M&E in the management and delivery of the repairs, maintenance and stock investment contracts across all M&E disciplines
  • To ensure contracts are financially controlled, to budget and to client requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve value for money, oversee implementation, ensuring that benefits are realised and monitored
  • Work with contractor and consultant partners, colleagues and residents across the full range of resident services


Key responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Ensure contracts are financially controlled, to budget and to company requirements
2. Scrutiny and processing of variation claims using a variety of contracted schedules of rates and open book arrangements.
3. Monitor & update monthly cost / sales / cash flow forecast - including labour analysis etc. Assist in the delivery of the monthly management accounts.
4. Scrutiny of applications for payment / valuations
5. Performing risk, value management and cost control - Work with management team to ensure that the Compliance and M&E Team consistently identifies opportunities for and delivers value for money.
6. Assessing applications for payment compliant with the contract
7. Assisting in claims and dispute resolution
8. Preparation & settlement of contractor final accounts
9. Preparing accurate and prudent cost /value analysis
10. Budget preparation for both reactive and programmed works across revenue and capital budget streams.
11. Identify service areas and elements where cost savings can be achieved. Work with Contract Managers to implement strategic improvement and monitor the savings generated.
12. Feed into the delivery of a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and refurbishment projects through a team of contract managers and engineers
13. Procure individual projects and programmes of works relating to all types of M&E works
14. Good quality and accurate record keeping, assisting in the delivery of internal and external audits of the service area.

Person Specification

Education

  • BSc, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a similar related field. (E) Knowledge and skills required
  • High level knowledge and experience of quantity surveying, cost control, partnering and a range of procurement mechanisms and procedures. (D)
  • Experience of building practice, building law and emerging trends, and the ability to manage best practice and techniques. (D)
  • Ability to effectively manage resources to achieve business objectives, whilst contributing to complex budget setting and control. (D)
  • High level analytical skill and an ability to deliver creative solutions and information in a diverse environment. (E)
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadline maintaining high level of attention to details. (E)
  • Able to represent the organisation externally with key stakeholders such as local authorities, partner agencies and residents groups. (D)


Experience required

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor and financial knowledge of construction costs. (E)
  • Understanding of contracts and the tender process and managing packages of work. (E)
  • Experience of managing schedule of rates and open book arrangements for M&E contracts. (E)
  • Experience in a relevant maintenance & reactive/responsive repairs capacity with a sound technical knowledge of building maintenance services. (E)
  • Experience of using quality systems. (D)
  • Experience of managing and administering a large and complex range of contracts and contract forms, delivering high volumes of multi-disciplinary repairs to housing, offices and other building types. (E)
  • Experience of planned maintenance and/or major repairs. (D)


Additional Information

  • This position will be based either in Wembley, however, you will be required to travel to other sites as required
  • A valid UK driving license is required with access to own vehicle insured for business use
  • Standard DBS Check is required for this position
