The job in a nutshell

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the FMV team and working with other departments to deliver quality service to our customers and excellent distribution for our producers. You’ll oversee the budget and expenditure for the department, manage the offer calendar and allocations of important agencies, whilst working with the buyers on strategies for our producers. Managing key national and independent merchant accounts, along with a selection of important on-trade account will also be part of your role.

Who you will work with

Internally: FMV Colleagues, Sales Support Team, Buying Team, Sales & Service Team and Brands Team.

Externally: Customers and Suppliers.

What you will do

  • Managing team, including weekly meetings, collaboration on key accounts, managing sales targets, expenses, annual/sick leave and PDPs.

  • Managing annual budget process by working closely with Director of UK & Ireland and Commercial team.

  • Offers & Campaigns - working with Buyers on important releases through the year, organising tastings & masterclasses and setting allocations.

  • Agency management - working with buyers on splits between off and on-trade, product placement, allocations and reporting back to key producers on market activity and strategies.

  • Managing key National and Fine Wine Merchants whilst retaining important relationship based on-trade and regional merchant customers.

  • Managing the day to day running of FMV.

  • Setting the strategy for FMV.

  • Overseeing allocations and distribution of our agencies.

  • Providing end to end management of a pre-assigned set of customers’ accounts.

  • Meeting and exceeding pre-agreed commercial targets.

  • Developing a detailed working knowledge of the FMV portfolio and a reputation for expertise in wine.

  • Being the expert in Agency distribution and account management.

  • Representing FMV in the marketplace and demonstrating the Company’s values of integrity, passion and generosity of spirit.

  • Ensure that all working practices comply with Health and Safety legislation.

What you will bring to the role

Experience / Achievements

  • Proven ability to reach sales targets while providing a high-quality service.

  • Working experience of managing a team.

  • Experience of sales to Fine Wine merchants.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with customers over a medium term to long term period.

  • Ability to self-motivate and organise.

  • Experience of or a proven understanding of an 'Agency’ business as opposed to a wholesaler.

Qualifications
