Lead Nutritionist

The purpose of this role is to use your nutritional expertise to support the new product development pipeline to deliver major innovation  within our vitamin and supplements and food and beverage ranges. You will be supporting the team of Product Developers to create market leading formulations using your knowledge of science and nutrition. The role will be hands on with suppliers to support final recipes.

This role will be responsible for creating the nutritional strategy, frameworks & guardrails to guide the commercial teams and supplier partners when curating and creating new products formulations and recipes. The same strategy & frameworks will be used to review existing catalogue against as part of the total product transformation. In addition, it will embed the strategy, frameworks, and guard rails within the organisation and manage the R&D nutrition and science team to deliver & operationalise the strategy.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

• Create the strategy, frameworks & guardrails to guide the total commercial teams and supplier partners when curating and creating new products. The same strategy & frameworks will be used to review existing catalogue against as part of the total product transformation.
• Perform research and analysis: Stay up to date with the latest scientific research and nutritional trends, and apply this knowledge to develop innovative strategies, interventions, and educational materials.
• Collaborate with the science team, to ensure nutrition & science direction is fully aligned and we continue to future proof our strategies and plans.
• Represent H&B externally as a subject matter expert: Develop relationships with key external stakeholders.
• You will work with the new product development team and nutritionists to use your nutritional expertise & understanding of the latest developments in ingredients and technologies to help the formulations of new food, beverage and VHMS products for H&B.
• You will work with the product developers and buyers to develop compelling product propositions and strong reasons to believe based on strong technical insight, competitor, and market knowledge.
• You will liaise with suppliers to ensure we can create market leading formulations based on evidence-based nutrition, combined with innovation within the food and wellness market.
• Support the food and VHMS category teams in reviewing nutritional standards of branded products.
• You will translate complicated science into easy to understand and compelling product benefits and claims.
• Work with the Nutritional and Science teams to support delivery of H&Bs nutrition science strategy.
• You will work in partnership with the regulatory teams and product technicians from initial concept to finished product to optimise the product formulations and claims.

Location: 

This role can be based either in London or Nuneaton, and is required to travel between hubs and occasionally to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the offices.

The Person:

Key Requirements: 

• Bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition, nutrition Science, clinical nutrition, food science & nutrition
• Registered Nutritionist RNutr
• Extensive years industry experience as a minimum, preferably within the supplement and food experience.
• Experienced and knowledgeable Senior nutrition & science R&D specialist.
• Experience creating the nutrition strategy, frameworks & guardrails. Giving expert guidance, developing nutrition programs, conducting research, and leading a team of nutrition professionals.
• Have a deep understanding of human nutrition, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate leadership capabilities.
• Knowledge of nutraceuticals would be a bonus
