Our client, an innovative Probate company are seeking a Head of Legal, Director & COLP.

The company pride themselves of their powerful platform at the intersection of legaltech, fintech and AI to empower users and make the Probate process faster, cheaper and more transparent.

As part of the founding team, you will take a central role in shaping and leading their legal function. They operate cross-functionally, giving you the opportunity to contribute holistically in areas such as client experience, tech and strategic business growth. As they scale, you’ll have the chance to grow the team and establish the foundation for the business's long-term success.

They are seeking:

  • A qualified solicitor with 3+ years of post-qualification experience in private client law, including expertise in Probate, Wills etc.
  • Understanding of SRA regulations and strong technical knowledge
  • Passionate about your craft, with a desire to make a significant, positive impact on the probate industry
  • Analytical thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and approaching challenges with creativity
  • Client-focused and empathetic, with a strong desire to understand and address the problems client face
  • Proactive, results-driven and motivated by taking ownership
  • STEP qualified or actively working towards full membership (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience of working within a startup or an early stage company (preferred but not essential)

The role:

  • Serving as a Director and COLP, ensuring full compliance with SRA requirements and fulfilling all associated responsibilities alongside the COFA
  • Acting as the go-to technical expert on all matters related to probate, providing guidance and expertise
  • Translating legal knowledge into clear technical requirements to support the development of our digital product
  • Establishing and optimising legal operations to enhance efficiency and scalability
  • Taking a hands-on approach and owning cross-functional responsibilities
  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting team members and growing the team over time
