Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with a prestigious society to recruit a Programme Officer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-profile events while managing the full lifecycle of an awards programme that celebrates excellence in the sciences.

As Programme Officer, you will oversee the awards and events programme, manage relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure each project is successfully delivered from start to finish. We are seeking a highly organised, proactive individual with a strong background in project and programme management.

Job Title: Programme Officer Location: Central London (Hybrid - minimum of 2 days per week)Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (including some evening and weekend work)Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 per annumContract: 12-month fixed-term (maternity cover)

Responsibilities:

  • Awards Administration: Oversee the annual nomination cycle, maintain accurate records, handle communications, and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Event Management: Plan and deliver a range of prestigious events, managing logistics, catering, and participant engagement to ensure an outstanding experience.
  • Committee Support: Organise committee meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and assist with panel discussions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with awardees, committee members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Manage event budgets, ensuring all activities are delivered within agreed financial parameters.

Person Specification:Experience:

  • Proven experience managing complex projects or events, especially involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Committee support or senior stakeholder engagement experience is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and CRM/database systems for efficient information management.
