About the RoleAre you an experienced Rent Arrears Officer looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? Join our Rent Service Team and play a key role in maximizing rent collection, reducing arrears, and supporting vulnerable residents to sustain their tenancies. You will be responsible for managing a designated patch of residential and non-residential accounts, ensuring compliance with pre-court action protocols while delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage rent arrears cases effectively, taking necessary action to recover outstanding payments.
- Provide advice and support to tenants facing financial difficulties, making referrals to support agencies where needed.
- Ensure strict adherence to pre-court action protocols and relevant housing legislation.
- Monitor accounts, send reminders, and initiate enforcement action when appropriate.
- Work towards collection targets while balancing the needs of vulnerable residents.
- Identify and implement best practices for arrears recovery within the team.
- Handle difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy, both over the phone and face-to-face.
- Maintain accurate records and case notes using Northgate and other housing management systems.
We are looking for a highly organised, analytical, and methodical individual with:? Knowledge of housing management laws and rent arrears collection methods.? Experience in rent arrears case management within a housing or customer service setting.? Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.? Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and performance targets.? Proficiency in Northgate and office software with strong numerical and IT skills.? A customer-focused approach, with experience in working sensitively with diverse communities.
